Day 361 – December 27

God with us

“But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.”

1 Corinthians 6:17

Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate. Mark 10:7-9

The biblical picture of marriage is the mirror of our relationship with our Lord Jesus. It functions properly when I leave, hold fast, and then see. I am still my father and mother’s son. Leaving doesn’t mean walking away from relationship, it means walking into intimacy with my bride and forsaking all for her. In Christ, we must think in the same manner by forsaking our past, shame, and fears to unite with Him. The way we hold fast is by spending time, walking hand in hand together, dreaming together, and co-operating in our home as one. That is how our relationship with Christ is to be. He is the head, but we are one when we are walking in one spirit with Him. Then what I get to see is that we are no longer individuals living separate lives, hoping to “make this thing work.” My dreams become her dreams, her dreams become my dreams, and we walk step for step, stride for stride, in unison. God will give us the desire of our hearts when we delight in Him (Psalm 37:4). But most of us want our dreams and want our God to make it happen. God is with us not to just protect us from bad or give us what we need, but to walk in a beautiful marriage to do the will of our Heavenly father. This is how our homes, lives, and world will change, when we realize we are co-operating with the Spirit of God.

We’re more than conquerors in Christ.
