Daily Devotion – December 28

Day 362 – December 28

God with us

“Where shall I go from your Spirit, Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!”
Psalm 139:6-7

Running from God isn’t something we can actually do. In actuality, what we are doing is running from our responsibilities or the hand we were dealt, and we throw God into the mix. God cannot leave us. If He did, He would go against His own word, which is impossible! God is always with us. We just are often unaware of His presence which causes us to lose focus on what really matters. We focus on what we perceive as things going poorly.

Whenever we face difficulties, we have a few options. Run to fix the problem or stand and trust the Lord. Trusting the Lord doesn’t mean we are idle. It means we move when He says move and go at the pace He assigns for us to go. If we fail to recognize and focus on the goodness of God in our lives, we will begin to see breakdowns in our lives even when we do the right thing. Psalm 139 is an incredible chapter. David is crying out to God to search and know His heart and is calling for intimacy. As David reflects on the goodness of God, he says in verse 5, “You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.” So when I’m aware of Him in my life I realize He’s already been where I’m going and He’s always got my back! He’s near enough always to put His hand on my head and guides my every move until I resist. Don’t try to run from your problems. Run to your savior and watch Him work today!

We’re more than conquerors in Christ.
